Freeze Dried Live Vaccine – Newcastle Disease (ND) – LaSota strain-SPF origin

Newcastle Disease

Secondary Newcastle disease (ND) is an acute viral disease of domestic poultry and many other bird species. ND is caused by viruses in the serotype Avian ParaMyxoVirus type 1 (APMV-1). It is a worldwide problem that ranges clinically from inapparent to a rapidly fatal condition, that is characterized by gastrointestinal, respiratory and/or nervous signs. The many ND virus strains vary widely in virulence and tissue tropisms. The presence of virulent strains in poultry requires monitoring and control measures and it severely impacts commercial productivity and international trade in poultry and poultry products. Both attenuated live and inactivated vaccines are used to control the disease.

Additional information

Composition

Each dose contains Newcastle Disease virus, lentogenic LaSota strain, at least 10 6.5EID50.

Indications

vaccination of poultry for immunization against Newcastle Disease.

Administration and dosage

Spraying/Aerosol:
• Prepare for each 1,000 doses 100-300 ml of non chlorinated water.
• Add the reconstituted vaccine to the adequate volume of spraying water, immediately prior to use, and mix well.
• The ventilation system of the poultry house should be inoperative during the spray/aerosol administration.
• Direct the stream from the sprayer over the heads of the birds.
• Spray at one day of age in delivery boxes:
The volume applied must be accurately determined and repeatable for every box and can range from 7ml to 20ml per 100 birds depending upon the particular spray equipment in use. Droplets of 100-300μm diameter are ideal as they facilitate even coverage of birds.
Drinking water:
• Make sure that drinking water is free of any traces of disinfectants.
• Deprive the birds of drinking water two hours before vaccination.
• Prepare adequate volume of drinking water to be consumed within one to two hours.
• Protect the dissolved vaccine from chlorine by adding BIOVAC'S Blue Neutrachlor® (following the instructions) or skim milk powder (50g/20L) or skim milk (0.5L/20L) to drinking water to be consumed within one to two hours.
• Stir well after mixing and allow solution to stand for 20 min. before adding the vaccine.
• Mix well the reconstituted vaccine in the final volume of disinfectant free drinking water.
• Let the birds consume all the vaccine-water volume before renewing water supply.
Ocular route:>/b>
The vaccine should be dissolved in physiological saline solution (usually 40 ml per 1,000 doses) and administered by means of a standardized dropper. Administer one drop (0.04ml) of vaccine into the open eye of each bird.
